Elephant Walk

Yesterday Nancy and Katie went downtown to watch the elephants from the Ringling Brothers circus walk from the train to the Verizon Center (the arena where the circus will be held this weekend). They found a nice spot on 4th Street near Stanton Park, a few blocks from the Capitol building and just 2 blocks from where I lived 12 short years ago.

When we heard the elephants were taking the train, we expected them to get off at Union Station like everyone else. But they actually got off the train a few blocks south of the station which makes sense because you can't have a herd of elephants tromping through Union Station (but it would make a good Dr. Seuss book).

Katie's 2nd Birthday

I've been slack with the posts and we have a lot of catching up to do so let's get right to it.

Katie celebrated her 2nd birthday by going to the National Zoo with Nancy and Grandma Butler. Then she opened presents and enjoyed yummy cake and ice cream. Nancy made a great chocolate chip cake but Katie was more interested in the ice cream. That left more cake for us!

Thank you everyone for the great presents. Katie's enjoyed them including her new kitchen and table, tea set, play-doh kitchen set, play pizza and pasta (with pepper grinder and parmesan cheese shaker), baby doll quilt, and lots of new books. Thanks to everyone!

Here's a video of Katie eating her birthday cake and ice cream (mostly ice cream) along with some photos. More photos are here.
