Katie also went ice skating with me to help break in my new skates. We shared the ice with about 6 figure skaters practicing their moves. So after a few laps around the ice, Katie wanted to twirl and jump like they were doing. Luckily she was ok with me helping her. Then Katie let go of my hand and skated on her own for several minutes. It amazed Nancy and I that she could do it but it actually fits her strong-willed independent nature.
Last week we walked down to the Del Ray Music Festival to see some good local bands and eat some good local food. As in previous years, Katie's favorite parts were dancing, jumping on the moon bounce, and running through the mist tent several hundred times.
For the Fourth of July, we enjoyed burgers and dogs on the grill, watched the concert at the Capital on tv, and then stepped outside with all our neighbors to watch the Mall fireworks from afar. It was perfect for Katie because we were too far away to hear the fireworks, which is her least favorite part.
Next week we'll be at the Outer Banks with my family and then Katie goes to a week of camp at her preschool. I think Nancy is looking forward to the camp more than Katie.
