Art on the Ave 2008

Last weekend we went to our neighborhood's annual art festival. I had to run 20 miles that morning so we didn't make it to the festival until late in the afternoon. We met our friends Marlee and Brad and their two boys down there. We had a lot of fun walking around and listening to all the great bands and eating yummy barbeque (me) and butternut squash soup (Nancy).

We tried to get Katie to play in the moonbounce but she wasn't interested. She stood there and cried. There was a bigger girl flopping around nearby which may have scared her. But Katie loved listening to the Irish band and dancing on the haystacks with Marlee's boys. Dancing on the hay leads, inevitably, to a hay fight in which Katie partook.

After all the dancing, we perused the artists booths and bought a fun painting for Katie's room. It has some of her favorite animals on it including bees and butterflies.

Katie's new favorite phrase is "what's that?" As fun as it is to tell her about some of the great things in this beautiful world, it can be exhausting... especially when she points to things that aren't easily describeable like a model of the solar system or the Philly Fanatic.
