Katie was accepted into preschool! Starting in September, she'll go 2 days a week at the Beverly Hills Preschool (in 22305, not 90210). That was our favorite pre-school we looked at so we're very happy she got in (and even happier that we don't have to pay any more $75 non-refundable registration fees!).
Beverly Hills Preschool is an arts-based co-op school that is inspired by an approach to learning that originated in a village in Northern Italy after World War II to help defeat fascism. It's based on the principles of respect, responsibility, and community. For an interesting overview of the program, read this.
Because it's a co-op school, the parents are responsible for helping the teachers in the classroom and working on the grounds of the school. In addition to being a good way to get the parents involved, it helps lower the cost of tuition.
It's a 15 minute walk from our house to the preschool (or a very short drive). So, needless to say, we're very excited that she got in!
