Going for a family walk around the neighborhood on the first day of the year.

New Year's morning is good for staying in bed and cuddling.

Having fun at the Caps practice rink

Going for a family hike on the Billy Goat Trail.

At the start of the trail.

It had beautiful views of the Potomac River.

And lots of big rocks to climb.

Nancy and I stayed at ground level whenever possible.

Watching a kayaker enter the turbulent waters of the Potomac River.

Katie howling like a wolf

Their stockings must be shrinking because they used to be the same size as the kids.

Fun with static electricity

Peter with his new hockey stick and helmet

Dance party

Cuddle time

Peter's ready for his first indoor soccer game (Futsal)

Katie tries out her new Craypen from Aunt Melinda. It uses melted crayons as "ink".

Peter and Nancy build a castle for his knights.

Watching a movie with Theo

Katie's dramatic sleeping pose.

Playing street hockey with Theo at the awesome roller hockey rink in Alexandria.

Nice shot Peter!

Nice shot Theo!

Chasing the ball in the corner.

Going for a goal.

The kids (with a blurry Theo) at the marina in Old Town Alexandria.

Peter and Theo play before one of Peter's futsal games.

Waiting for the snow...

Working on a fun project with nails and rubber bands.

Rusty checks out the early stages of the snow.

We woke up to a Winter Wonderland!

I'm not sure Rusty enjoyed it as much. We had to dig a path for his bathroom breaks.

Digging out the front door so we can get out easily.

Going sledding

Our snow angels

It may be a while before we go out the backdoor

I think the Audi is under there somewhere.

Shoveling

Snow days are great because the entire neighborhood is home and everyone goes outside to play, shovel, and chat.

We ended up with about 15-18 inches. It snowed for nearly two days straight.

Rusty goes out to make some yellow snow.

King of the hill

Our snowy homestead

Nancy goes skiing around town.

She starts by going up the big hill and then zipping down.

Digging out the back door.

Nice job

Sledding at our neighborhood park.

Peter gets a lift home

The big machinery had to come in to plow some of the hills in our neighborhood. Even so, it had trouble making it up the big hills.

Drying our boots by the fire

Rusty enjoys a brushing from Katie

We took a break from the snow by going to the ice rink. Somehow it made sense at the time.

He shoots... he scores!

Nice backhand

Nancy starts painting Katie's room

Peter with a scoring chance

Go Peter go!

Peter's in a black jersey with the light blue shark socks.

A week after the blizzard

Still lots of snow
