Memorial Day Weekend

Katie spent the Memorial Day weekend at Aunt Sue and Uncle John's farm taking care of Clyde and Junebug. We enjoyed the peace and quiet countryside. On Sunday we went to a Strawberry Festival in nearby Delaplane, Virginia. It was fun. Katie rode a horse, danced to a bluegrass band, ate a strawberry sundae, went on a hayride, watched a puppet show, and made some sand art. After the festival, Katie cooled off by watching her Dad play ice hockey. That night we watched the National Memorial Day concert and were relieved that Lionel Richie didn't sing "Dancing on the Ceiling."

On Monday we visited our former neighbors Nikki and Randy at their beautiful new house. They have a great screened-in porch in the back that is perfect for hanging out. Katie loved running around the house with Sophie and Cooper. She even got to help feed their fish in the koi pond in the yard. When it was time to leave, Katie started crying and saying, "I don't want to go." It was very sad. It was very nice of Nikki and Randy to have us over and we hope to see them again soon.

When we returned home on Monday night, we quickly found out that our air conditioner wasn't working. We got prepared for a long sweaty night but it ended up not being too bad. There was a nice breeze which helped. In the morning I ran out and got new fuses which thankfully fixed it.

All in all, it was a fun weekend.
