On Friday Katie went to work with me. Four of my co-workers have kids about the same age as Katie so we conspired to bring our kids in and let them romp around. It's the third time we've done it this summer and so far there haven't been any major disasters (the other people in the office may have a different opinion). We all stayed in the large conference room and the kids played with toys, watched movies, and drew on the whiteboard. The adults mostly chatted and pretended to work. Katie was very well behaved but now she has a warped sense of what I do all day (well, somewhat).
Saturday Katie got to see her favorite Austrian family, the Von Trapps! She went to the beautiful Wolf Trap outdoor theater. It's a National Park that is nestled in the woods in the Virginia countryside. It's probably our favorite place to see a concert but it had been a while since we had seen someone there (Natalie Merchant and Wilco may have been our last show there around 2002). The day was one of the nicest ones of the summer which was perfect because we had lawn seats. We brought a blanket and some snacks and enjoyed the Sound of Music. Katie sang along and danced a little. We all had a fun time. When our neighbor Kel found out that Katie was going, she talked her husband into taking her the next day!

Flying at the Air and Space Museum with Cora.
