Nancy's mom came down for an enjoyable visit. She spent a few days with us until Nancy worked her too hard so she went to Sue and John's house for a few days.
We started off Thanksgiving by running the Alexandria Turkey Trot, a 5 mile race in Del Ray that goes right by our neighborhood. They allow strollers so we loaded the kids in the double stroller and pushed them along. It wasn't too bad except the stroller kept moving to the left so I had to constantly correct it by pulling it to the right. By the end of the race my right arm was more sore than my legs! Also, the race was very crowded which is nice except when you're trying to navigate a huge double-stroller through a crowd of people moving at different speeds. I accidentally clipped a woman's heels at one point. I felt bad but maybe it convinced her to move a little faster. Nancy's mom walked down to cheer us on around mile 1. Katie was so excited to see her. Katie also saw some of her school friends along the way. It was fun running through our neighborhood and seeing so many people out supporting the race. There were over 5,000 runners which is a record for the race, which has been run on every Thanksgiving for the last 37 years.
After the race, we cleaned up and watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade on tv. Then we went to Sue and John's house for a great Thanksgiving dinner that they generously prepared for everyone. Katie loved running around with Theo. Theo's at that magical age when he can point at something and someone gets it for him. I hope he enjoys it while it lasts.
On Saturday Katie went to a birthday party while I watched the Yellow Jackets lose badly to the evil Bulldogs. On Sunday Katie went to see "Twas the Night Before Christmas" at Adventure Theater, a great local children's theater. She loved it.
Peter's been motoring around a lot -- crawling, cruising, and even taking a tentative step or two. We had to put up baby gates which no one likes (especially Rusty).
