The next day we met up with some of my cousins and Aunt Mary, all on my Dad's side of the family. We enjoyed a very nice picnic near a marshy river. It was probably riddled with alligators but fortunately we didn't see any. We did see some crabs running around in the mud near the water.
We chatted with relatives we haven't seen in a while (some as long as 6 years), ate some good food, and took some family photos. At one point my Dad was sitting next his sister (my Aunt Mary) and said, "Can you believe our Mom spawned all these people?" It was amazing to think how all these great families originated from one person.
Afterwards, we returned to the condo and hung out with my parents and my sisters' families. Nancy and the kids tried to go to the beach with my Mom but a storm rushed in with great gusts of wind. They said it blew the sand sideways and hurt as it pelted your legs. That night we had a nice dinner together of leftovers and then went for a night swim.
The next morning my Dad said he had trouble breathing during the night so my Mom called 911. An ambulance came and took him to nearby Flagler Hospital. He seemed like the same old Dad when we visited him, just a little tired from the lack of sleep. We took turns visiting him and going to the beach and then had dinner at the slowest restaurant on earth. But that just gave us more time to spend with each other, I guess.
The following day was departure day and it was sad to leave. Melinda and Kaylyn surprised Katie with a "princess makeover". They did her finger nails, toe nails, and even curled her hair a little. Katie loved it and it was a very nice surprise. Afterwards, we drove to Orlando to fly home. My sister Melinda and my Mom stayed behind with my Dad.
