Nancy and Peter spent a week in Connecticut to help Grammy Butler recover. Katie and I managed to get by while they were gone but we really missed them. I was particularly proud of getting Katie to school on time for 4 days in a row! (which pales when compared to Nancy doing it for 90+ times so far). We were very happy to see them when they came home and very happy to hear that Grammy is recovering nicely. Now she just has to figure out what to do with the 30 inches of snow she got over the weekend.

Building towers and castles with blocks.

The kids are outgrowing their stockings!

Peter found another use for the trampoline.

The kids helped with un-decorating the tree until they realized that playing in the ornament containers was more fun.

Nancy's Saab even got sick and had to get a new battery.

Mr Cool goes for a run with Nancy.

Peter found another use for the blocks (burying his sister).

Our smart-looking kids.

The kids work on their next hit song.

Hiking on Roosevelt Island in DC.

Katie with the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts behind her (it's across the river).

Katie with Georgetown in the background.

The family is happy to see a familiar landmark -- the statue of Teddy Roosevelt -- which means the car isn't too much farther.

Katie at the Caps fan appreciation night at the Verizon Center. We ate free hot dogs, popcorn, and cotton candy and the kids got Caps tattoos and then we watched the Caps practice. They looked really good... until the season started.

Katie getting her Caps tattoo. We were a little nervous that it was real tattoo people doing it. We had to double-check to make sure they were temporary tattoos.

Peter getting his tattoo. His only said "Caps" because there wasn't much room on his short lil' arm.

The Caps practicing. We were amazing at how many people were there (announced at 10,000).
The highlight of the Caps practice was Troy Brouwer dancing to Gangnam Style on the ice.

The kids dancing along with him.

Our drummer boy discovers that Rusty's food container serves as a good drum.

I took Katie to a dance party at the school. There was more chasing than dancing but we had fun. It was nice to show off my dance moves to a whole new generation of admirers (not really).

Katie dancing at the school party with her friend Jordin.

Katie goes bird watching around the neighborhood with her binoculars and bird guide book.

Peter decided to draw on his face with Nancy's eyebrow pencil.

Celebrating Theo's 3rd birthday.

Katie looks for birds under a log while Theo looks for fires.

Peter and Uncle John go for a hike.

The kids being sworn-in as Vice President along with Joe Biden.

"Watching" Obama's inaugural address.

Peter marches along with one of the bands in the Inauguration Parade.

Watching it "snow".

Snowball fight!

Peter practices his snow angels.

Katie drinks her hot chocolate while Peter drinks his popcorn.

Nancy went for a long run along the frozen Potomac River.

Katie is puzzle champion.

Katie with her new dog nose she got from school.

Katie with a birthday card she made for her friend Jordan (and I subsequently left the card and present at home when we went to the party!).
