All the bridges to DC were closed and the Metro trains were packed so our best option would have been to walk the 5 miles to the Mall. But we would have had to carry Katie the whole way since strollers and backpacks were forbidden on the Mall. In the end, we were a little sad we weren't there to see it in person but watching it on tv was good too. It was the first time in 16 years I've watched it from home.
When Bush left DC on the Marine helicopter, we went outside and could see it fly by the Washington monument. So that at least made us feel like we were sort of there.
My favorite moment of the ceremony was Aretha Franklin singing "Let Freedom Ring." She's amazing.
Here are some photos of Katie enjoying the inauguration.

Katie watches the ceremony. She appears to lean to the right.

Katie waves to the Obamas during the parade...

..and waves...

...and waves...

...and then dances with her baby doll with the Obamas to "At Last".
