Back in the States

We're home! (but very tired). Our bodies think it's 4:40am so I'm going to keep this short and post photos and more stuff later.

We started the day by packing our belongings slowly and sadly. We then went out for a last lunch at a cafe in the Latin Quarter and strolled around a bit. The train service was shutdown by a strike so we took a cab to the airport which worked out well. When we got to the Air France counter, they said their ticketing employees went on strike that day so the office people were filling in. They did just fine and whisked us through.

Katie fell asleep on the plane before we took off. She slept for nearly two hours and then was a little restless for the remaining six loooong hours on the plane, as any 2 year old would be that is confined to a small seat all day. She did just fine though. We landed around 8pm EDT and immigration decided to allow us back into the country. Now we're home and very tired and about to go to sleep.

One particularly touching moment came this morning when Katie, totally unprompted, hugged Nancy and said, "Thank you Mama for Paris" and then hugged me. It was very cute. She did amazingly well all week with no regular naps (only whenever she happened to fall asleep in the stroller) and a lot of activities where she couldn't act like a 2 year old (museums, churches, bridges, busy roads, etc...).

Bon nuit!
