I took the kids to see the St Patrick's day parade in Old Town Alexandria. It was my first solo trip with them and it went well, but I'm glad Nancy didn't notify me of that until afterwards. There was a great crowd at the parade and lots of good bagpipe bands, dancers, and soldiers.
Last week Katie went to a Yoga class at her school with about 20 of her friends. They learned several poses and then had smoothies and made a craft. She loves showing off her moves to everyone she sees and describing them ("you put your hands near your heart like this and then do criss-cross-applesauce but it's different."). A few days earlier Peter went to a Mom-and-me Pilates class with Nancy. At one point, all the babies were crying at the same time. So much for relaxation.
Lately Katie has spent a lot of time outside riding her bike, her scooter, skating, walking her baby and Rusty, kicking the soccer ball, and having picnics. Peter has been smiling and laughing a lot. He loves being held and cuddling. He's trying to roll over but isn't quite there yet.
Tomorrow we're having a party with some of Katie's friends at the soft playroom. It was formerly a racquetball court at a city recreation center that was converted to a kid's playroom. We didn't intend to have the party so late after her birthday but the room was booked solid.

I worked at Fort Hamilton, Brooklyn for a few days near the beautiful Verrazano Narrows Bridge.

This is what I missed at the house while I was away.

Peter ponders something deeply.

On our way to the Alexandria Saint Patrick's Day Parade

There was a great crowd in Old Town Alexandria, as always.

The Irish Princess with her new tiara, Irish flag, and shamrock wand.

Remnants of a bagpipe band make its way to the staging area.

At school, Benedicte said "Un, deux, trois" and Katie jumped.

Cuddling with her brother.

Theo came over to play for a bit while his parents went to a charity dinner in DC.

Katie taught Theo how to dance to "Rock Lobster."

Theo hangs out with Peter.
