We apparently spent Labor Day weekend at Sue and John's farm to dogsit and scare away bears.
Then Katie started her 3rd (and final) year of preschool. It'll be really sad when she leaves Beverley Hills Preschool. We've been very very happy there.
At some point Nancy and Peter drove up to New England for a college reunion while Katie and I stayed home and misbehaved. Katie wore outrageous outfits and I ate my weight in cookies.
Then we went to the National Book Festival on the Mall. They have lots of fun things for kids and adults and many great authors talking about their books. David McCullough (who wrote "1776" and "John Adams" and narrated the movie "Seabiscuit") and Edmund Morris ("Theodore Rex") were there. I listened to some of Edmund Morris' talk but the highlight was definitely the author of Fancy Nancy. She read one of her books while wearing a bright pink boa. Then we walked around some of the other exhibits and Katie got to walk through the Magic School Bus.

I'm not sure what's going on here, but I'm happy I had nothing to do with it.
Katie went to her friend Tessa's birthday party and got to play dress up.
And got to take some whacks at "Hello Kitty".
