The kids enjoyed making their own mortarboard hats and the decorations for the playground. Every day in school last month they counted down the days to graduation. Katie was very excited. We were a little surprised she wasn't more sad that the end of preschool was approaching.
Finally, on the big day, Katie put on a nice green dress and marched down the aisle. The director, Kelley, is retiring this year and choked up a bit during her speech. Katie's teachers are also retiring this year so the ceremony marked a transition for many people.
Then the kids sang songs with Pastor Sara and then, in a unique BHCP tradition, the kids go down the slide to get their diploma. It was a wonderfully whimsical BHCP tradition that is fun and moving.
Afterwards, we enjoyed a potluck lunch on the playground and said goodbye to everyone but it didn't feel like goodbye. We expect to see many of them again soon but maybe that's just wishful thinking.
Photos are below. More are here.

The hats are ready but Pastor Sara is still warming up.

The diplomas are ready too

Here's Katie!

Katie was in the back row and sort of hard to see.

Here she comes...

Congratulations!
