June 2013

June was busy with the end of Katie's school year and, of course, the massive preparations for Father's Day. Katie's school had a fun end-of-year picnic and Nancy took her for ice cream after her final day of Kindergarten. Nancy and Peter also joined her for lunch on the last day. Katie's Girl Scout troop also had a end-of-year ceremony. She also won a PE trophy! Her year of Kindergarten went much smoother than we ever expected and she learned an amazing amount. She continually surprises us with how much she can read and she can even do some math now! Katie made us so proud this year!

Also in June, Katie signed up for a soccer camp which made us happy. We think she'll enjoy soccer but her first experience a few years ago did not go well. Some of the games they played scared her (like trying to sneak up and grab the soccer balls from the "Sleeping Giant"). But she had a great time at this camp and may sign up in a league this fall!

Katie reads her poem about days of the week. We were a little worried when she described Saturday as sour, but then she explained that Saturdays remind her of sour candy, which is a good thing to her.
