Katie had two favorite pieces of art in the museum. One was a mobile by Alexander Calder (the one pictured above is similar to the one she liked). The other was a vibrant piece by Frank Stella that had vivid colors and funky shapes. We thought she was becoming quite the little art critic until we went to the gift shop and she gave the same enthusiastic reaction to some wind chimes.
We stayed at the Admiral Fell Inn in the heart of Fells Point. It's a great 230+ year old hotel and our room had a great view of the town and the party people walking the streets. Katie appearantly wanted to be one of them because she didn't go to sleep until 2 a.m. She rested up by sleeping through our dinner at the DuClaw Brewery.
We didn't realize Fell's Point is such a big party area. It has over 120 bars! But with Katie in tow, we were happy strolling around the brick-lined streets and making sure we didn't walk a block too far (there's a thin line between the nice area and the sketchy area).
Here's the view of Fell's Point from our hotel room window.
On Sunday we ate breakfast at a somewhat divey place called Tommy's Restaurant. John and Sue ate breakfast there several years ago and said the waitress called John a wimp for quitting after 2 Budweisers with his pancakes. We were a little disappointed to not see anyone drinking when we were there but the food was good so we were happy.
It was a beautiful sunny day and warm for January (low 50's) so we strolled around Fell's Point and went into several fun shops. We got home around 4pm and are now relaxing in preparation for my first 5-day work week in what seems like forever.
Here's me being crabby:
Sue is bringing Rusty back from the farm tonight and then spending the night because she needs to be in D.C. court early Monday morning and I have a hockey game tonight at 9:30pm. We're hoping Katie will be exhausted tonight and go to sleep at a normal hour but it never seems to work out that way.
Katie's latest trick is trying to throw things. Half the time they go behind her but sometimes she really lets one fly. She's also figured out that she can crawl from one room to another. Her favorite route is from the living room to the kitchen. That's her Dad's favorite route too.
I hope everyone had a happy weekend.
