Throughout October she got to do lots of fun Halloween activities like carving a jack-o-lantern with Nancy, going to a pumpkin "patch", a fall festival at her school where the kids dressed up in their costumes (including her), a Halloween parade in Del Ray, a costume party with Mom's Club of Alexandria, and of course, trick-or-treating.
This year Katie trick-or-treated with her former neighbor Ellie. Last month she moved to an adjacent neighborhood but came back to go trick-or-treating with her good friend Katie. Unfortunately, it only lasted about 20 minutes because Ellie became scared and wanted to go home. After we said goodbye we continued on and did our usual lap around the neighborhood. There were lots of good costumes and several excellent jack-o-lanterns. It was a perfect night for it -- cool and a little breezy but not uncomfortable.
This year Katie really had the hang of trick-or-treating. She had no hesitation about marching up to each door and saying "Trick-or-treat!" She would also very politely say "Thank you" or "Happy Halloween". We were very proud.
It seemed like there were fewer trick-or-treaters in the neighborhood this year. We weren't sure why. It was also sad to not trick-or-treat with our former neighbors Cooper and Sophie.
You can read about Katie's past Halloweens here: 2007, 2008, and 2009.
